Painless Root Canal

Root canal … two words that most people dread and associate with pain. Unfortunately, some of us have had a bad past experience at the dentist, or that slight pain you still feel when getting a filling, even though you’re numb. As a child, this was certainly the case for me; I was terrified of the dentist. At times, I would refuse to even enter a dental office with my mom, even though she was the one who had an appointment, because I was scared that I would be tricked into having dental work done on me.

As ironic as it may be that I became a dentist myself, especially a root canal specialist, my childhood fear gave me a unique perspective and goal throughout my educational years and career: to learn and implement all the possible ways in making dental treatment as painless and comfortable as possible. To put myself in my patients’ shoes, understand where their fears come from, and to directly target those fears with complete empathy, in order to put them at ease.

The truth is, today’s root canal treatment is completely painless. I understand that this is very hard to accept, but my mission is to make believers out of my patients every single day. With the combination of modern local anesthetics and having advanced anesthetic administration techniques in my tool belt as an endodontist, the only promise that I ever make to my patients is that their root canal will be completely painless.

So take a deep breath and put your mind at ease. You won’t feel a thing during your root canal. In fact, some patients use the time to take a nice nap! Bring some music, your earphones, a blanket, or anything else that will make you more comfortable because at Empire Endodontics, we’re on a mission to change the negative stereotype associate with root canals!
