Advanced Technology

Cone beam CT (computed tomography) imaging is cutting edge technology which allows for highly detailed, 3-dimentional visualization of your teeth, roots, and intricacies of your root canal system in such a way that is not possible with traditional, 2-D x-rays.

At a fraction of the radiation exposure as a medical CT, this new technology allows for significantly more accurate diagnosis and surgical planning, ultimately leading to better treatment outcomes.

As a part of our commitment to exceptional care, we have invested in a brand new Carestream 8100 3D unit for our office.

Surgical microscopes provide enhanced magnification and lighting, allowing us to visualize intricate details inside your tooth which would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. When a canal is not found and cleaned out, your tooth is unlikely to heal, so microscopes help us achieve superior treatment success by allowing us to work with greater accuracy and precision in finding and treating small, hard-to-find canals within a very small workspace.

We have invested in a top-of-the-line microscope from the leading manufacturer, Carl Zeiss. An integrated HD camera allows us to live stream, record video, and take photographs in high definition, so that you or your family can see everything we see!

  • Significant reduction (90%) in exposure to radiation, as compared to traditional x-ray technology.
  • Quicker & easier, with the ability to view images instantly. This means faster and more efficient treatment, allowing us to complete your treatment in a single visit!
  • Allows us to display your x-ray images on our big-screen TV and review them with you!
  • Sharp, high-resolution images which means more accurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Allows for easy and quick transfer to your general dentist, without compromising image quality.

An electronic apex locator is a highly precise instrument used to obtain the length of your root, allowing us to disinfect the entire length of the root canal and not leave behind any debris or bacteria. This translates to the best possible treatment success.

Strong yet flexible. These instruments allow for efficient and safe cleaning of the root canal system, reducing treatment time and allowing us to negotiate curved roots and complex anatomy with ease. At Empire Endodontics, we utilize the latest, heat-treated NiTi rotary files, only from the top dental manufacturers.

These instruments allow for precise cutting of tooth structure when locating hard-to-find canals in very tight spaces.

Accurate and controlled cutting means less removal of your healthy tooth structure and ultimately, retaining a stronger tooth.

Ultrasonic instruments are also used to agitate the disinfecting solution used to cleanse the root canal system, leading to enhanced removal of debris and bacteria.

Once disinfected, the root canal system is filled in order to provide a liquid-tight seal that prevents bacteria from entering the canals within your roots in the future.

Our office implements a heated thermoplastic filling technique which makes the filling material soft and pliable, allowing it to flow and conform to the exact shape of your canal. This ensures a 3-dimentional seal within all the nooks and irregularities inside your roots, preventing any voids or unfilled spaces that may allow bacterial penetration.

Transillumation is a highly accurate method for detecting cracks within teeth. It works by shining a focused light across the tooth, and if the light does not successfully reach all the way across the tooth, then it means that a crack is present which blocks/reflects the light beam.
